| Description | ![]() The Asia-Pacific New Leaders’ Dialogue brought 56 new and emerging leaders from across the region together with some of the biggest names in politics, business and academia, on October 30-31, 2009. The Dialogue was filmed in Jakarta by Indonesian network SCTV and will be first broadcast on Wednesday 11 November and the following Wednesday 18 November 2009. This is the first in what is sure to become an annual event in association with the Jakarta-based organisation, Modernisator. The quality of participants, was remarkable; the following are just a sample: Mr Jungwook Hong - Representative, National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Ms Sylvia Lim - Non-constituency Member of Parliament, Workers Party of Singapore Ms Ali Moore - Presenter & Journalist, Australian Broadcasting Corporation Ms Dian Sastro - Indonesian Actress & Film Producer Dr Dionisio Babo Soares - Secretary General, National Congress for the Reconstruction of Timor Leste Ms Ruth Yeoh - Director of Investments, YTL Company Berhad Mr Khairy Jamaluddin Zabidi - Representative, Parliament of Malaysia Joining our participants in the studio were an esteemed collection of speakers: H.E Dr Boediono - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Professor Kishore Mahbubani – Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary General - Association of Southeast Asian Nations Mr Tony Fernandes – Founder & CEO, Air Asia Video messages were also received by the following: The Hon. Kevin Rudd – Prime Minister of Australia The Hon. Abhisit Vejjajiva – Prime Minister of Thailand Mr Muhammad Yunus – Nobel Peace Prize-Winning economist Dr Sri Mulyani, Finance Minister of the Republic of Indonesia, hosted the opening dinner of the Dialogue on Friday 30 October. The closing dinner the following night was hosted by the Governor of Jakarta, Fauzi Bowo.
