Asialink announces new board members

Asialink is pleased to announce the appointment of five new Board members to its 2005 Board.
The new members are:
Asialink, based at the University of Melbourne, is Australia’s leading centre for the promotion of public understanding between Australia and Asia. Through high-level business forums, international collaborations, public programs, education, and arts and cultural exchanges, Asialink has for more than a decade built on its vision of "Australians equipped for full participation in the Asian region.”
Glyn Davis AC became Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Melbourne on 10 January 2005. Professor Davis was previously Vice-Chancellor of Griffith University in Queensland and has served as the most senior Queensland public servant. He was awarded his Doctorate of Philosophy from the Australian National University for a thesis entitled 'The Political Independence of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation'.
Philip Flood AO is the former Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and former Ambassador to Indonesia. He is a council member of the Foreign Affairs Council, which is established to enable the Government to develop foreign policy with input from individuals in business, academia and media. Most recently, he was appointed by the Government to head an inquiry of the Intelligence Agencies. Mr Flood is a Board member of CARE Australia.
Peter Yates, Managing Director of Allco Equity Partners Limited, is also Chief Executive Officer of the manager of AEP. AEP is one of the largest listed private equity funds in Australia and specialises in private equity and activist corporate situations. He was Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL), Australia's leading media and entertainment Company from 2001-2004.
Lindley Edwards is the Managing Director of The Venture Group Ltd which specialises in providing financial and strategic assistance to emerging and growth companies. In 2000 Ms Edwards was admitted to the Australian Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame. In 2001 she was named one of Australia’s Top 40 Bankers under 40.
Phil Scanlan is an accomplished company director, corporate adviser and Chief Executive. He has been a public company director since 1984, and held senior and chief executive positions for over 20 years until January 2000 - including Managing Director of Coca Cola Amatil's worldwide beverages operations, CEO of Hallmark Asia Pacific, and Managing Director and CEO of Bonlac Foods. Mr Scanlan is Founder of the Australian American Leadership Dialogue.
