Insight Indonesia with Five visiting Indonesian MPs

Thursday, 15 June 2006

Asialink recently hosted five visiting Indonesian independent Members of Parliament at a free public forum in the Sidney Myer Asia Centre.

In an open discussion, Dr AS Hikam, Dr. Yusron Iza LLM, Dr. Yuddy Chrisnady, Mr Boy M.W. Saul, and Mr H.A. Chudlary Syafei Hadzame spoke briefly about Indonesia's recent tumultuous events that have applied pressures to shape Australia-Indonesia relations. The Members of Parliament were most keen to interact with the audience, taking many questions
on a variety of topics, but most topically on Indonesia's current stand on human rights, especially in their west Papuan province.
