Foundations of Gold

The Foundations of Gold project was initiated by the City of Melbourne in partnership with The Asialink Centre of The University of Melbourne and RMIT Gallery of RMIT University. The exhibition paired five artists from Osaka, Mumbai, Singapore, Manila and Seoul with counterparts in Melbourne to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the discovery of gold in Victoria. Each pair worked together for a month with the resulting work shown in Melbourne at RMIT Gallery in July 2001. The exhibition then toured to the home cities of each artist.
The exhibition toured to Manila, Melbourne, Mumbai, Osaka, Seoul, Singapore (2001 - 2003).
