The idea of this exhibition was proposed by Ambassador Susan Boyd as one of the projects to celebrate 25 years of Australia Vietnam relations in 1997. She wanted to emphasise the growing number of serious cultural exchanges between Australia and Vietnam in the visual arts over recent years and the proposal of using works by artists who had had contact in each other's countries was developed. Ian Were worked with Nguyen Xuan Tiep, leading Vietnamese artist and curator, in developing the project.

"This exhibition tells the story of people meeting over the last few years through their experiences as artists in each others' countries. This exhibition enables us to participate in the journey which these artists have made". Lisa Filipetto, Australian Consul General, Ho Chi Minh City.

This exhibition toured to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City (1997)
