Foundations of Gold

Foundations of Gold Flyer

The Foundations of Gold project was initiated by the City of Melbourne in partnership with The Asialink Centre of The University of Melbourne and RMIT Gallery of RMIT University. Curated by Beatrice Schlabowsky, Suzanne Davies, Jeff Taylor, Rachel Young and Alison Carroll, Foundations of Gold is an exhibition pairing five artists from Osaka, Mumbai, Singapore, Manila and Seoul with counterparts in Melbourne to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the discovery of gold in Victoria. Each pair worked together for a month with the resulting work shown in Melbourne at RMIT Gallery in July 2001. The exhibition then toured to the home cities of each artist. The artists are Ki-Ra Kim, Pamela Stadus, Blanche Tilden, Makiko Mitsunari, Brenda Fajardo, Caroline Williams, Monika Correa, Georgia Chapman, Eugene Chua Gin-Minn and Simon Cottrell.
