The Asialink Conversations is a highly prestigious by-invitation event initiated by Asialink, University of Melbourne which brings together key leaders of government, business , academia and the community from ASEAN and Australia to discuss issues of shared concern over 2 and a half days. This intimate gathering is designed to foster a frank and robust exchange of ideas and to build new networks and friendships.
The inaugural Conversations was held in Victoria, Australia in 2002. The second Conversations was held in Malaysia in 2004 where Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi of Malaysia met with the delegates at the closing dinner.
In 2006, the Conversations was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Prime Minister John Howard gave the keynote address at the closing dinner of 200, which included the Australian business community in Vietnam.
The Conversations was conceived at the initiative and under the leadership of Mr. Baillieu Myer AC, Asialink’s patron.
