- Government endeavours in the Asian region include initiatives relating to the G20, the Asian Development Bank, the East Asia Summit, and Free Trade Agreements.
- Australia has to communicate its commitment to economic engagement with the Asian region. Difficulties exist here: there is a need, for instance, to counter the irrational critique of foreign investment (particularly Chinese investment) which has appeared in the Australian community in recent times. United States investment in Australia is 24% of Foreign Direct Investment, while China is not even in the top five.
- It is the responsibility of all ministers, shadow ministers, and government departments to argue on fact and counter scare mongering.
