Jonathan Smith

Project: The experience of caring for a mentally ill child among an Indo-Chinese community in Victoria.

Digital story telling is a multimedia format that uses still and moving images, together with music, text and sound effects to convey a person’s story. It is usually brief, unsophisticated (seemingly) and carries the storyteller’s voice and images from their personal archive. It has been used effectively with a variety of communities including Alzheimer sufferers and people with heart disease. It can be a quasi therapeutic activity, creating a public and personal archive and is a powerful communicator to people outside of the target group.

Using the above approach this project will capture stories of Indo- Chinese carers and their mentally ill children.
