Ms Caroline Farmer

Executive Director
Experimenta Media Art
s

For the past two years Caroline has been the Executive Director of Experimenta Media Arts, a Melbourne based organisation that supports and promotes the development of contemporary media arts through commissions, exhibitions and touring as well as community based projects in remote and regional Australia. In this role she has responsibility for all of Experimenta’s activities including the implementation of new strategic programs for the organisation.

Key projects have included: Experimenta Under the Radar, an international tour of Australian media art to the UK in 2006; Re:search Art Collaboration, a residency and exhibition of Australian and Japanese artists for the 2006 Year of Exchange at Sendai Mediatheque in Japan; Experimenta Vanishing Point, a festival style program with a major international exhibition, screenings and public events, launched in Melbourne in 2005 and currently touring around Australia; and ExperimentaLAB which commenced in 2006 based at Warlayirti Arts in Balgo WA, a project that emerged out of a growing demand from people across all generations in the community to have their history and culture recorded through first person accounts using digital technology.

Prior to taking up the position at Experimenta, Caroline was the Director of 24HR Art - the Northern Territory Centre for Contemporary Art in Darwin, the manager of the Australian Network for Art and Technology, a lecturer in Media Production and Screen Studies and alongside of this she has many years experience as a curator, artist and collaborator on new media and contemporary visual art projects.
