Ms Di Kilsby

Senior Program Manager
Plan International

Di Kilsby has enjoyed a personal, professional and spiritual connection with Asia spanning twenty years. In her work with international NGOs, Di has spent considerable time in Vietnam and Cambodia in particular, and also in East Timor, Laos, Burma, Thailand, China, the Philippines, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia (as well as parts of the Pacific, and Southern and East Africa). Di is presently Senior Program Manager with Plan International Australia, and has previously worked with Australian Red Cross and International Women's Development Agency. This work has been underpinned by a strong commitment to rights, currently focusing on the rights of children, especially the girl child. Di has a particular focus on gender and development, along with other complex dimensions of the experiences and needs of people in situations of poverty and vulnerability.

She has also worked in community development at the domestic level, in women's, refugee, indigenous and migrant issues, and in community arts. Di believes in the power of the creative arts as a tool for empowerment and for developing cross-cultural understanding. Her involvement has included the Africa Alive campaign, work at the Boite's World Music festivals and events, and singing in the chorus of productions including Kan Yama Kan and Mavis Goes to Timor. Di is also currently completing a qualification in Professional Writing and Editing.
