Dr Elizabeth McLeod

Consultant
Southern Health Care Network

Liz graduated from medicine at the University of Melbourne, and after travelling for a while returned to pursue a  surgical career, initially as a general surgeon, and then as a paediatric surgeon. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon with the Southern Health Care Network and a Senior Lecturer at Monash University.

Time spent working in the Solomon Islands and Fiji has fuelled her interest in international development and global health. She is currently involved in an  AusAID project in the Nusa Tengarra Timur province of Indonesia to deliver specialist surgical services to the region, and has recently returned from West Timor.

When not working she enjoys scuba diving, skiing and bushwalking.

Her future plans include undertaking a Masters in Public Health with a focus on International Health, improving her Indonesian and surviving the adolescence of her two children.
