Anne Newman
Ms Anne Newman
General Manager, Company Secretary
National ELT Accreditation Scheme
Anne Newman works for the National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) which is responsible for the accreditation and quality assurance monitoring of education providers offering English language teaching programs for international students studying in Australia. NEAS also provides quality assurance services across Australia for the Adult Migrant Education Program. Past roles in education administration and teaching has allowed Anne to work and live in Japan and Singapore and, as a consultant in student services, she has travelled to other countries in Asia to assist in facilitating information for students deciding on education opportunities. Within her role at NEAS, Anne has introduced and overseen the accreditation of English language teaching centres in Indonesia, Cambodia, and Vietnam with the view of adding to this list of countries.
Study in education formed Anne’s initial degree which she undertook at the University of Tasmania. In between work and travel in Asia, Anne completed a Master in Applied Linguistics through Macquarie University and a Master of Management with the Australian National University. Of strong interest and focus throughout her studies was the concept of cross cultural communication.
The importance of education and communication and their link to our future world is what keeps Anne interested in the area that she works in. Outside of that, she dreams of places to visit and experiences to be had.
