Brian has a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering. Initial roles included responsibility, an Engineering Officer, for the operation and maintenance of Merchant Navy vessels. Subsequently, Brian has gained a wealth of experience in rollingstock Engineering, having worked on a number of major projects including but not limited to: Project Engineer on London Underground's 'C' Stock refurbishment, Project Manager for the Docklands Light Rail passenger car prototype modernisation, Project Engineer on British Rail's lightweight high speed trailer and power bogies, Project Controller for the modernisation of MTRC's passenger cars in Hong Kong, Engineering Manager for a multitude of Freight wagon projects, member of the Engineering Management team responsible for developing and implementing ISO 9001 procedures, Proposals Manager responsible for determining the strategy, compiling the tenders, and negotiating the final Contracts on multiple Freight projects, etc. The current role also involves the development of UGL Rail's freight business into Asia, thus building on the relationships developed in Hong Kong, China, and India.
Brian has a broad experience of different cultures, having worked closely with Indian and chinese colleagues in the Merchant Navy and, more recently, has been heavily involved with developing relationships and finalising contracts with both Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese companies.
