Mr Iain Roy
Lawyer
Cricket Australia
Iain is currently an in-house lawyer with Cricket Australia. Prior to this he worked with the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation as the venue manager for the successful rugby 7s tournament. He has worked previously with a major Australian law firm in their Melbourne office and for four years worked with an English law firm based in their Tokyo office.
Iain has a strong interest in Japan which was triggered by learning Japanese throughout secondary school and at university as part of a major in Asian studies. Iain regularly travelled to Japan during his university studies in various capacities, including as a golf caddy, a language exchange student and as part of a Victorian government youth delegation to Melbourne's Japanese sister city, Osaka.
While living and working in Japan Iain was able to foster a broader interest in the Asian region and made many trips to a number of Asian countries. These experiences have complemented Iain's involvement with Asialink, with which he has been involved on a voluntary basis for over ten years. Among other roles, he chaired the organising committee for the inaugural Asialink Asia Connect careers conference in 2000.
In his spare time, Iain harbours secret passions for karaoke and sumo wrestling and likes to explore Melbourne's hidden laneway bars.
