Neil was born in Melbourne but spent most of his adolescence moving back and forth between Hong Kong and Australia with a memorable stint at a PNG secondary school. He returned to Melbourne to study genetics and botany at the University of Melbourne before joining the Australian Red Cross Blood Service. Neil currently provides technical expertise to the blood transfusion sector in Australia and to ARCBS projects in Asia and has developed a keen interest in systems as they apply to blood transfusion.
Neil enjoys travelling with the family (in Asia) as well as rock and alpine climbing, however spends most of his spare time ferrying his two daughters through their hectic schedules, occasionally watching a rugby union game from the sofa.
