After qualifying as a chartered accountant, John joined the financial institutions division of PwC (Pretoria, South Africa) where he completed his 3-year apprenticeship. Wanting to learn more about equity markets and Mergers & Acquisitions, John spent the next 7 years working as a corporate finance manager and private equity associate in Johannesburg. During this period, John also qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
In March 2005, John and his wife relocated to Australia where he joined ANZ's Group Strategy team in Melbourne. With a primary focus on Mergers & Acquisitions, both in Australia and Asia, John spends a large part of his time travelling the region with the aim of expanding and supporting ANZ's growth in the Asian region. In his spare time, he is an avid golfer with a mission to play all the fantastic golf courses in and around Melbourne.
