Ti-Tree Family Doctors
Marie is a General Medical Practitioner in outer Melbourne, committed to high quality medical care and personal service, in an environment that encourages information and responsibility for health in partnership with health professionals. She is a founding partner of Ti - Tree Family Doctors, Mt. Eliza, an accredited group family practice awarded 'Australian General Practice of the Year' in 2000. Her professional interests are developmental paediatrics, women's health, health education and mind - body medicine. She is an active participant in Balint psychotherapy groups and recently completed a Diploma of Family Therapy.
Health education is a major passion, and has led to her voluntary activities with community groups. She is a committee member and Newsletter Editor with the Victorian Turner's Syndrome Association, as well as the Genetic Support Network Victoria, a group which advocates information, choice and support whilst 'overcoming genetic challenges'. Her book 'hidden TreaSure' was published in 2003, presenting social research as a treasury of people's experiences living with Turner's Syndrome (a common random chromosome abnormality that affects females). Key aspects include resourcefulness, resilience and the challenges to self-esteem, femininity, fertility, and disclosure. Several articles have also been published about this work. The 'hidden TreaSure' Auxiliary of the RCH was started by her in 2005, and as chairwoman she is raising funds for more formal research on maximizing well-being while living with a chronic condition.
