Stuart Whitman currently manages professional development and research projects to enhance the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning in science, engineering and technology at RMIT University. He is also undertaking postgraduate studies in Diplomacy and Trade at the Business and Economics Faculty at Monash University and is student representative on the Graduate Operations Committee there.

Stuart's academic interests include issues of governance in the Asia-Pacific with a special interest in science and innovation policy and its impact on the management of international scientific projects aimed at resolving challenges of sustainability, health and living standards in Asia. He hopes to extend these studies into doctoral research in the near future and values the Asialink Leaders Program as a platform to achieve this.

Born in Townsville, North Queensland, Stuart is the son of a Vietnam Veteran and grew up very conscious of the impact of Australia's foreign policy decisions in Asia on the lives of everyday people. He has taught in France and Australia and his personal interests include reading, travelling, French and Japanese cinema, jazz, camping and hiking, photography, palaeontology and astronomy.
