Stephen is senior health economist at the George Institute for International Health and an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. His professional background has almost exclusively been in the field of health research; having been awarded his PhD at the University of Sydney and worked at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine prior to taking up his current position in 2005.
Stephen has a particular interest in China working on projects there with a particular focus on issues of health systems reform and health financing – topics currently high on the policy agenda in China.
Stephen has a Chinese family background (although born in Australia) and has many relatives who live in Southern China, mainly in Guangdong. He is married with three young children and would like the family to spend some time living in China in the near future.
