Mr Nathan Laws

Project Officer
Australian Legal Resources International

Although I was born in North Queensland, my primary schooling was spent in Perth, followed by secondary schooling in Adelaide. I joined the Australian Regular Army straight out of school, and spent five years at various posts around Australia.

Following my service, I complemented my BA with an LLB from ANU. I enjoyed my time at ANU, and got to know Canberra quite well as I drove taxis three nights a week to pay the bills.

I predicted that my career would be spent practicing criminal law, however I was extremely pleased to have been recruited by Australian Legal Resources International (ALRI) as a project officer. As a fully accredited AusAID NGO, ALRI implements judicial and legislative reform programs in developing countries, with an emphasis on the rule of law and human rights. As a Programs Manager, I am now coordinating several legal development assistance projects, the majority of which are in Indonesia and East Timor.

My hobbies include bicycle and motorcycle riding, camping, and skiing.
