Zoe McKenzie works with Freehills (law firm) based in Canberra. She coordinates the firm's Government Affairs practice and also works as a solicitor practising in industrial relations, employment law, equal opportunity and privacy. Prior to joining Freehills, Zoe worked as an adviser to a Commonwealth Minister. She has a strong interest in public policy, policy formulation and the theory and practice of government.
Prior to moving to Canberra in 1999, Zoe worked as a lawyer in Melbourne. She studied law and arts (focusing on European languages) at the University of Melbourne. During her studies she worked as a research assistant in the area of constitutional law and in the Office of the Victorian Attorney General.
Zoe's interests include foreign languages, literature and non-fiction on topics of Australian politics and history.
