Allan Hong
Mr Allan Hong
Policy Adviser, Innovation Economy UnitDepartment of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development
Allan Hong emigrated from Hong Kong to Australia in 1992. His Chinese given name is Keung-wah, literally translated as "Strong China" - probably a good topic for discussion among the program participants.
As a Chinese Australian, Allan maintains ongoing interest in the economic, social and environmental development of the Asia Pacific region, in particular "Greater China" (i.e. China, Taiwan and Hong Kong). He is interested to see how Asia's future as one of the world's most dynamic economic regions can be realised by embracing technology and innovation, and how Australia can contribute and assist Asian countries to achieve these goals.
Over the last two years, Allan has been part of the team responsible for formulating a whole-of-government Innovation Economy Policy for Victoria. He was most satisfied to see the release of the $310 million Innovation Statement by the Victorian Premier last October, just days before he announced the Victorian Election 2002.
