Director of Student Welfare, Trinity CollegeI have been working with Trinity College at the University of Melbourne since the end of 1999 and I am close to finishing (finally!) my PhD thesis on the subject of Papua New Guinea's independence constitution, which I am undertaking with the History Department at this University.
My link with Asia can be described as general and also tangential. I completed an Honours degree in Asian Studies in 1996, and have maintained an active interest in the affairs of the region since then. My tangential interest in Asian affairs comes from my specific study of Papua New Guinea, also where I was born, which has given me a love for the heat, humidity, and fecundity of the tropics, sometimes difficult to pursue from my Melbourne exile.
I am very much looking forward to the experience of participating in the Asialink New Leaders Program, and to meeting and learning about my fellow participants.
