Mr Paul de Carvalho

Co-Director, Sydney Asia-Pacific Film Festival

I am a founding co-director of the Sydney Asia Pacific Film Festival, an annual Festival of Asian feature films and Asian-Australian short films. I also run my own marketing and media consultancy, Spice Media, specialising in film and entertainment, and Asia-related issues and events.

After completing my International MBA in the US, I moved to Beijing as a director of the international corporate affairs consultancy, Hill and Knowlton.

Since returning to Australia in 1997, I have tried to combine business with my interests in Asia and the arts. I continue to assist the Asia Society AustralAsia Centre, and I was a founding member of Sydney's Asialink Circle.

I'm a member of the Asian Australian Arts Centre, and last year I was on the
NSW Premier's Committee for the Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Australia's Diplomatic Relations with China. I travel to Asia at least three times a year, mainly for film festivals.
