Ms Paula Black

Coordinator, International Students
Kangan Batman Institute of Tafe

Paula became interested in Asia through her studies in ceramics and painting. She studied a Bachelor of Visual Arts in Painting, followed by study in ceramics at TAFE and finally a Graduate Diploma in Education and Training.

Through travel, Paula has been able to see for herself the inspiration for so many artists, Mt Fuji in woodblock prints, mountains melting into clouds as in many ink paintings and deliciously slippery carp. Her love and interest in Asia has grown with experience, and her thirst to learn more and meet with others who are interested in Asia, has become unstoppable.

Paula has lived and worked in Japan and spent time searching the corners of Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, been scuba diving with turtles in Malaysia and even mixed cement for a volunteer house building project in the Philippines. There are still so many places that Paula would like to visit and she hopes through the Asialink course she can further develop her awareness, meet others and discuss Asia / Australia related issues, and through this, plan her next adventure.

Paula currently works as a Co-ordinator of International Students in the TAFE sector.
