Shane has worked in a number of roles within the Department in Northern Victoria. He has managed the farm and facilities at the Kyabram Dairy Centre, and has lead a range of agricultural research projects in plant and animal production. Shane has also provided advise and support programs to assist dairy farmer in Northern Victoria to improve their farm production and management of the environment.
As well as working for the public sector, Shane also owned and operated his own dairy farm for 12 years milking 190 cows. He sold the business in 2001 and has returned to the Department of Primary Industries.
Shane has hosted a number of visiting scientist from China and Japan, providing guided tours of the farming systems within Northern Victoria. He has recently visited northern China on a business delegation investigating joint venture opportunities to collaborate with China to establish and manage a dairy industry.
Shane has had an interest in Asia and Asian culture for many years and looks forward to the knowledge and interaction that the Asialink leadership course offers.
Shane's other interests include bushwalking, music, reading, skiing, sailing and playing with my 3 children.
