Anil grew up in the North West of Australia (Finucane Island) before moving to Perth for his secondary schooling in '88. In '97 he completed his Bachelor of Economics at the University of Western Australia, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment at the Securities Institute. In late '98 Anil left for the UK where he travelled for 2 years prior to returning to a job with Macquarie in Australia.
Since graduation, Anil has worked as a business analyst in a number of investment banks in Australia and London, and is currently employed as a Business Development Analyst for GBST (Global Banking Securities Transactions) in Sydney. In addition to his work, Anil is currently studying his Masters of International Law at Sydney University.
Anil has a strong interest in international affairs and believes Australia is at a critical point in terms of relations with a fast changing Asian region. He would like to be involved in debating Australia's role in the region, and analysing ways to enhance Australia's relationship with regional neighbours. Anil's Indian heritage has given him a strong interest in Australia's relationship with India in particular.
In his spare time Anil enjoys surfing, travelling, acoustic guitar and outdoor activities (camping, hiking, fishing). He also has a strong interest in international politics and trade policy.
