Adel was born in Cairo and migrated with his family to Australia whilst still a toddler. The Salman family spent the first few years in Sydney before moving to Melbourne, where they have remained ever since. Adel was married in 2004 to a Sydneysider, so he has first hand experience of the intense interstate rivalry.
Adel attended state schools throughout his primary and secondary education, and then went on to complete a BEng (Elec) at the University of Melbourne. Whilst at uni, he jointly founded the student Islamic Society, and held the position of Secretary. Adel completed an MBA in 1999.
Since graduating, Adel has worked for a number of large multinational organisations, incl. GM and PwC. He is currently Sector Manager at Cadbury Schweppes, managing a team of Procurement professionals with an overall spend responsibility of $400m+. As part of his role, Adel interacts and works with colleagues throughout the Asia Pacific region, and his role is becoming more regionally focused as the company seeks to build an effective regional structure.
Adel's interests are in politics, religion, history, reading and sport. He is a keen tennis and squash player, and a passionate supporter of the Carlton Football Club.
