Metropolitan Fire Brigade
I was born and raised in one of the safest and finest cities in the world: Melbourne. Here I am a career firefighter and have worked throughout most departments of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade. At present I am the manager of Community Safety in the Southern Zone area; an area which takes in 13 Fire Stations and 9 Municipalities.
A major part of my role is to work with the multicultural groups within my area, identifying the risks within the groups and putting strategies in place which are mutually understood and excepted to mitigate the risks. One of my main goals in this position is to bring firefighters and the multicultural groups together to build an understanding and respect for the different cultures.
My studies started later in life than some. Having completed secondary school I ventured off to the big world of employment. I soon realised my mistake and combine work and study to complete studies in Fire Engineering and Disaster Management, whilst also having researched disaster management topics with the New York Fire Dept (post September 11) and the London Fire Brigade.
My passion is to travel and to be more to the point; I like to surf on the most interesting waves in the most beautiful coastlines I can find.
