Mr Jeremy Maslin

ICLEI

Jeremy is the Cities for Climate Protection™ (CCP™) Australian Manager, an international greenhouse gas reduction campaign delivered in Australia through the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives- Australia / New Zealand office (ICLEI-A/NZ).

In Australia, ICLEI have a long-term successful partnership with the Australian Government that has produced the most successful CCP™ program in the world. CCP™ Australia commenced in 1998. Recently, a further 4-Year Framework Agreement was signed between the Australian Government and ICLEI-A/NZ that will ultimately deliver a decade of greenhouse gas abatement achievements.

ICLEI-A/NZ, through CCP™, capacity build Australian local governments (200 as at March 2005) to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. During 2003/04 alone local government reported over 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) abatement through CCP™.

Jeremy’s interest in China began when his father re-married a Chinese national 14-years ago. Since that time Jeremy’s interest in the Chinese culture has grown steadily culminating in an attempt to learn Mandarin.

Through his work at ICLEI-A/NZ, Jeremy would like to assist in building the Australian – Chinese relationship through exploring the sharing of knowledge about CCP™. Jeremy hopes the CCP™ framework can be utilised by the two governments to build on the recently signed Agreement between Australia and China to work together on greenhouse gas reduction initiatives.
