Joseph is a medical resident at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. He graduated with both medical and arts qualifications from the University of Melbourne and is planning to specialise in infectious diseases and public health.

Joseph is currently substituting clinical work for full-time health policy research at the University of Melbourne. His research is considering what government policy responses are needed to address the increasing rate of HIV infection in Australia. He has a broader interest in public health in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in emerging diseases and health infrastructure.

His professional and community work is particularly focused on medical training and education, including current posts on the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria. He has been a director of the Australian Medical Association, Melbourne University Student Union, and was a member of the Council of the University of Melbourne. He enjoys bushwalking, travelling and plays the piano and violin.
