Mr Samuel Chittick
Senior Consultant
ACIL Pty. Ltd.
My primary link to Asia is through the two AusAID funded Projects I manage, one in China, and one in Indonesia. These not only provide me some great professional challenges, in both an intellectual sense and in management issues, but also give me a great excuse to jump on a plane and spend time in both countries. Unfortunately my language skills haven't kept pace with frequent flyer points, but I'm working on that.
The focus of my current role with ACIL Australia is on leading and directing development Projects funded by the Australian government. In recent years the Projects I've managed have centred around issues of community development and organisational change, and specifically on the interface between government departments and communities.
Prior to joining ACIL I was lucky enough to spend eight years working outside Australia, including six years in Africa, working with local institutions and local communities. Those adventures took me to some amazing remote and isolated areas, both physically and emotionally.
Before I started wandering the world I picked up a bachelors degree in economics, and when I came back I finished a Masters in International and Community Development. In between I have worked for international donor agencies, consulting companies, and community organisations in Mozambique, Malawi, South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, and China.
