Cicily Ponnor is a freelance performer, writer and director working in the context of community cultural development, cross cultural collaboration and contemporary performance. Cicily has mainly worked in the last five years with various communities of Western Sydney ranging from Youth at risk, refugee communities and the Indian diaspora in Sydney. Cicily was peer advisor in 2004 for the Australia Council Community Cultural Development Board meeting.

Her last major work was india@oz.sangam for Carnivale as part of Urban Theatre projects production in 2003 as co director. Prior to india@oz.sangam, Suburban masala (2002,BYDS) were the first two projects in Australia to articulate the issues faced by various communities of the Indian diaspora in Sydney.

Cicily was born in Kerala, India, grew up in Dubai, United Arab emirates, before migrating to Australia in 1992 with her family. She is currently completing her degree in B.A Communications- Information Management. Cicily's passionate about creating projects with foundations in hybrid and intercultural practices as they create a myriad of conceptual and practical processes which allow community members to get involved on their own terms and encourage the community to engage in complex solutions as means of directly improving their physical, social and economic and cultural life.
