Clare Carlin grew up in Perth, Western Australia. She holds a BA Mass Communication (Curtin University) and a Post Graduate Diploma in English Literature (University of Western Australia). She has seven years experience as a writer and sub-editor for magazines and newspapers in Perth, Sydney and Canberra.
In 2004 she moved to Canberra to attend the Australian National University where she is writing her Masters thesis on the work of Mena Abdullah and Jhumpa Lahiri. She is currently employed as Assistant Editor at the Asia Pacific Press.
Clare has a particular interest in Indian literature, international relations and writing fiction: in 2001 she undertook a development mentorship at Varuna Writers' Retreat and Literary Centre.
