I joined the New South Wales Police in 1989 after completing a horticultural apprenticeship with Wollongong City Council.

During my service with the police I have served in the Sydney Metropolitan, Illawarra and Shoalhaven areas of New South Wales.

I have served in various areas of policing including general duties, transit policing, intelligence and crime management units.

I have a Bachelor of Policing, having focused my studies on police management and criminology. Whilst gaining my degree I studied community policing models practiced in Singapore, India and Japan.

I was promoted to sergeant in 1999 to the role of Crime Coordinator at the Shoalhaven Local Area Command with responsibility for the Crime Management Unit. This unit encompasses an intelligence cell, domestic violence liaison, youth liaison, alcohol licensing , aboriginal community liaison, traffic coordination and crime prevention.

Since 1999, I have been responsible for the provision of analytical support to a number of strikeforces investigating homicides, drug and property theft offences. In 2000, I was seconded to the Olympic Intelligence Centre during the Sydney Olympic Games.

I am currently a relieving Duty Officer at the rank of Inspector. In this role I have responsibility for the deployment and management of resources to meet the day to day operational needs of the Shoalhaven Local Area Command and whilst on duty I am the Operational Commander at all major incidents and emergencies.

I am currently one of 40 NSW police officers participating on a Leadership Development Program being run by the Leadership Development Directorate of the NSW Police.
