Hurrem Basdan grew up on the Aegean Coast of Turkey and moved to Sydney with her parents at the age of 15 in 1988.
Whilst learning English she completed her HSC in 1990. Following completion of a Bachelor of Economics Degree at the University of Sydney in 1994 commenced her career as a Business Analyst at Zurich. In 1996 took a well-deserved break and travelled in Asia and Europe for 6 months. Upon returning commenced her MBA studies in Finance and Portfolio Management and continued to work for various investment management firms including Citigroup as an external consultant in managed funds.
Having realised the impact and importance of technology in this sector Hurrem made the move to join the vendor side in 1998. Over the next 4 years she worked for DST International in Sydney, London, Amsterdam and Madrid as a senior consultant, product and project manager for some of Europe's largest financial institutions. She is currently a Senior Associate at Milestone Group helping investment managers derive clear benefits from technology and providing experience-based operational advice.
Hurrem is particularly interested in business models, strategies and technology infrastructures of financial market participants in the Asia Pacific region. She has been involved with World Vision for the last 4 years and would like to increase her involvement in dealing with children's and women's rights issues in the region.
She enjoys film, yoga, travelling, reading (history) and new experiences.
