Born in Shanghai, Alan Wu, 22, is currently completing a combined Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) / Bachelor of Laws course at the University of Melbourne. He is heavily involved in promoting the full participation of young people in society, and maintains special interests in the role of international political institutions in promoting human development, building social capital and the capacity of communities to engage in decision-making, and innovative social and political applications of new technology.
Alan currently serves as Chair of the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition, and on the Australian National Commission for UNESCO, the Board of Directors of the International Young Professionals Foundation, the ABC Advisory Council, the Youth Steering Committee of the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia and the Fund for Individuals committee of the Foundation for Young Australians. Alan recently finished his term as Special Envoy for Young People to the UNEP Executive Director.
