Chris Spillane is a detective sergeant with Victoria Police attached to the Asian Squad. He has spent two years at the squad as a detective sergeant and previously spent four years at the squad as a detective senior constable. His duties include conducting investigations into serious crimes involving members of the Asian community. The Asian Squad also serves as a point of contact between the Asian community and Victoria Police. The squad has close contact with various community, business, educational and religious groups.
Chris previously studied Indonesian language and culture at high school and as part of an Arts degree which he did not complete. He left his studies to join Victoria Police in 1987. He worked at various uniform police stations including Richmond where his interest and appreciation of Asian culture (food) developed. He hopes to remain with the police force and continue his involvement with the Asian community.
