Currently, Elizabeth Toy is managing the Education Abroad Unit which promotes and administers exchange partnerships with universities in Asia, Europe and the Americas and supports students undertaking overseas educational experiences. While the unit works with partners throughout the world, Elizabeth's focus is on improving relationships with the unit's partners in South East and North Asia and in promoting interest in their students to study in the region. She also responsible for RMIT's International Scholarship Program which provides support to international students coming to RMIT to undertake research degrees.

Elizabeth's first professional experience in Asia was as the Project Manager of the development team that established RMIT International University Vietnam. The purpose of RMIT Vietnam is to contribute to the development of the university sector in Vietnam and to expand the opportunities available for Vietnamese students to enter higher education. Elizabeth was later the International Relations Advisor at RMIT working with prospective and existing international partners.

Elizabeth began her career in the Department of Defence before moving to the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.

Elizabeth's undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Arts (Hons), had a strong Europe focus. It wasn't until a holiday in Vietnam in 1998 that her interest in South East Asia took hold and it has since shaped her personal and professional focus. Elizabeth also have a Master of Public Policy and a Master of Business and Technology.
