Mariel Beros has spent her working life in the media and screen industries. She started her career as a journalist in Western Australia, before moving to the east coast to work in print journalism, television production and book publishing. This career path eventually led to feature film production, marketing, distribution and exhibition, an industry sector she is active in today.
A producing graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Mariel has been a guest panelist at overseas film festivals, and on selection committees for various Australian film funding organisations. In 2002 she was appointed founding Program Director of SPARK, the first national residential script development program in Australia.
Mariel has held executive positions at The Melbourne Film Office and Screen West, The Village Roadshow Corporation and Greater Union. She has run film producing short courses for AFTRS, and been a guest lecturer at RMIT and LaTrobe Universities in Melbourne. A contributor to various industry publications, Mariel is now concentrating on developing a new pan-Asian training program in the screen industry sector. She considers herself blessed to be able to indulge her passion for film and writing in her professional life.
