Mr Michael Ngo

Senior Consultant
The Nous Group

Michael is a business consultant with The Nous Group, an expert consulting firm who specialise in leadership and people development, organisational capability, business strategy and public policy.

Prior to joining Nous, Michael worked in the Melbourne, Hong Kong and Shanghai offices of IBM, assisting Fortune 500 clients develop their business and Information Technology strategy and service delivery, including performance planning and management. Michael has also worked as a management consultant with Pricewaterhousecoopers.

Michael's passion for China stems from its rich culture, its fascinating political past and its rise as an economic powerhouse. He first contracted the China bug as an exchange student at Beijing Normal University. This bug further took hold as Michael received a University of Melbourne exchange scholarship to study language and history at Peking University a year later. One of Michael's most memorable China experiences was his journey to retrace the footsteps of the Chinese monk, Xuanzang, who travelled along the Ancient Silk Road to India in search of true Buddhism. Xuanzang brought back and translated some 657 Sanskrit texts, which greatly influenced Chinese Buddhism and inspired the Chinese classic, Journey to the West.

Like the seventh century Chinse monk who opened up East and West Asia, Michael aspires to building bridges across the Australia-China cultural divide. To sustain this exciting journey, Michael is constantly in search of good, authentic Uygur restaurants.
