Sim Ung migrated to Sydney from Hong Kong in 1980 with her family and has grown up in Sydney all her life. She completed her Higher School Certificate at Santa Sabina College in 1995 whilst studying mandarin part time at the Asiana Catholic Chinese School in Ashfield.

After completing her Bachelor of Commerce Degree (majoring in Accounting & Finance) at the University of New South Wales in 1998, she spent six months studying mandarin at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in Guangzhou China.

She commenced her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2000 in the financial assurance division and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2002. Looking to develop her understanding of the Asian culture, she went on a secondment to the PricewaterhouseCoopers office in Hong Kong in 2003 however was forced to end her secondment after three months as a result of the spread of SARS in the region. Since then she has travelled back to Hong Kong on several occasions to assist with major audit engagements including the dual listing of Hutchison International Telecommunications Limited on the New York and Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2004.

She is presently the National Treasury of the Asian Chinese Business Council and in her spare time enjoys reading, cooking, film, shopping, playing golf and spending quality time with family and friends.
