Australia's students slow to take up Asian languages
The first major study of Asian languages in Australian schools in more than a decade shows continuing big declines, despite the Rudd Government's $AU62 million, four-year program to reverse the trend.
The study, by the Asia Education Foundation, confirms a continuing and dramatic decline in the numbers of students studying Indonesian, Japanese, Korean or Chinese.
