An extraordinary Australia-Myanmar meeting
SYDNEY, 8 October 2012 – Myanmar’s recent period of reform is an “unambiguously good story”, said Australian expert A/Prof Sean Turnell at the launch of Asialink’s Australia Myanmar Business Taskforce.
He described the launch itself as “utterly inconceivable” just 18 months ago and heralded the hands-on nature of the Asialink initiative.
“If Myanmar is going to be transformed …it's going to come through practical action. It’s going to come through business-to-business connection, government-to-government, people-to-people. It’s going to be very much at a practical end and that’s exactly what this taskforce is all about.”
